WILDWOOD — Twenty-five burglaries in the borough have been linked to an inmate already in the county jail on unrelated burglary and theft charges, according to the Wildwood Police Department.

Police said that in April, police investigated approximately 25 burglaries in various locations around the city. As part of the investigation, fingerprints and DNA samples were sent to the state police’s identification bureau. In October, the state police contacted the Wildwood Police Department and said they had a Combined DNA Index System, also called CODIS, hit for the evidence in the burglaries.

According to police, CODIS identified the suspect as Jeremis Ortiz-Feliciano, a 29-year-old man, who was already in the county jail.

In addition to his other charges, Ortiz-Feliciano was charged with 23 counts of burglary, 17 counts of theft, 25 counts of criminal mischief, and 2 counts of criminal attempt at burglary. He remains in the county jail in lieu of bail.
