Each week, the Current will select an athlete of the week based on competition involving high schools, youth or adult sports and recreation.
John Tepper, an Egg Harbor Township resident and Atlantic County Insitute of Technology graduate, led the Rowan men’s swimming & diving team to its second straight New Jersey Athletic Conference title with a 167.5-132.5 win over The College of New Jersey on Jan. 27. Tepper won three events, including the 500 and 1000 freestyles and the 400 freestyle relay. Tepper posted a time of 4:46.51 in the 500 freestyle and clocked a 9:46.92 in the 1000. He also swam a leg of the 400 free relay, which narrowly edged the Lions with a 3:08.04. Tepper was named NJAC Swimmer of the Week for the second week in a row and third time overall.
