The Egg Harbor Township High School boys and girls swimming teams both reached the finals of their respective South Jersey Public A tournaments this week.

Junior Grace Curry and freshman Alexandria Cotter led the girls with four wins apiece on Monday as the Eagles topped Kingsway Regional 117-53 in a sectional semifinal. The second-seeded Eagles (7-2) earned their fourth straight trip to the Public A final and will swim against top-seeded Cherry Hill East at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the championship meet at Gloucester County Institute of Technology in Deptford Township.

Curry won the 100-meter butterfly by more than eight seconds in 1 minute, 6.58 seconds. She won the 100 backstroke by a half-length in 1:06.44. Cotter took the 200 freestyle by more than seven seconds and captured the 100 freestyle by six inches. Curry and Cotter were both on the winning 200 medley and 400 freestyle relay teams.

EHT beat Cherry Hill East 95-75 in the South Jersey final in 2016, but the Cougars turned the tables last year, beating EHT 99-71.

Meanwhile, the Egg Harbor Township boys team showed its speed and depth in a 117-53 win over Cherokee on Monday in a semifinal meet. Cristian Bell, Joey Tepper and Zach Evans led EHT with two individual wins apiece.

Bell, a senior who will swim for Yale University next season, won the 100-meter butterfly by just more than two seconds in 59.80 seconds. Bell took the 100 backstroke by more than a length in 58.62 seconds.

Tepper won the 200 and 400 freestyle and Evans doubled in the sprints. AJ Mallori was first in the 100 breaststroke. The Eagles swept the three relays.

EHT was scheduled to meet top-seeded Cherry Hill East at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday for the championship at GCIT. Cherry Hill East, the defending state Public A champion, went into Wednesday's meet undefeated at 10-0.

Second-seeded EHT suffered its only loss during the regular season to record-setting neighbor Mainland Regional. The Eagles have reached the S.J. final three other times but have yet to win it. They lost to Cherokee in last year's sectional semifinal.
