All four soccer teams from Mainland Regional and Egg Harbor Township high schools will play in the prestigious South Jersey Coaches Association tournaments later this week.
The Mainland boys, who had won nine straight games by shutout coming into this week, earned the No. 7 seed in the 16-team SJCA boys tournament. The Mustangs will host No. 10 Washington Township at 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21 in Linwood. The winner will play No. 2 Rancocas Valley or No. 15 Haddonfield in a quarterfinal game on Monday, Oct. 23.
The EHT boys are the No. 16 seed in the tournament and will travel to top seed Shawnee at 5 p.m. Friday. If the Eagles could knock off the Renegades, they would face the Eastern-Cherokee winner in the quarterfinal round.
Semifinal games are scheduled for 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26 at Paul VI High School. The championship is Saturday, Oct. 29, at Rowan University at a time to be determined.
In the girls tournament, Mainland drew the 12th seed in the 16-team field and will travel to No. 5 Haddonfield on Saturday, Oct. 22. The winner of that game would face the Cinnaminson-Deptford winner in the quarterfinal round.
The EHT girls are the No. 15 seed and will play at No. 2 Washington Township on Saturday. The winner will face the winner of Williamstown-Cherokee.
Semifinal games in the girls tournament are scheduled for 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27 at Paul VI. The championship is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 29, at Rowan at a time to be determined.
