The Holy Spirit High School girls varsity eight won a four-boat race by one and a half boat lengths to lead the Spartans to the girls team points championship at the Atlantic County High School Rowing Championships on Lake Lenape last Sunday, May 14.

Mainland Regional won the overall (boys and girls combined) team championship with 205 points.

St. Augustine Prep took the boys team title with 162 points. Ocean City was second with 105 points, just edging Mainland’s 104.

The Holy Spirit girls varsity eight won in 5:16.77. The Spartans' lineup included stroke Hayley McKeever, Shannon Boyle, Rachel Fabel, Claira Fucetola, Stephanie Di Ianni, Kira McCully, Callie Miller, bow Amanda Kelly and coxswain Natalie Weeks.

Mainland finished first in the girls single race (Brooke Ridgway); the boys novice four (Andrew Middlesworth, John Kelly, Charles Dooner, Andrew Richards, Angel Pena, Robert Crompton, Doug Hartmann, coxswain Declan Lawler); the boys freshman eight (Dominick Canesi, Ben Arena, Guiidara Nicholas, Ilia Kheirkhah, Alex Barris, Anthony Palmer, Bryan Kintish, Charlie Sher, coxswain Zach Mansueto); the boys freshman eight (Dominick Canesi, Ben Arena, Guiidara Nicholas, Ilia Kheirkhah, Alex Barris, Anthony Palmer, Bryan Kintish, Charlie Sher, coxswain Zach Mansueto); and the boys junior eight (Richard Silbert, Mike Milhous, Connor Kelley, Dominic Grasso, Shahar Haddad, Ed Leap, Sebastian Bremer, Sacha Rovins, coxswain Joe Austin).

Holy Spirit won the girls team championship with 105 points. Mainland earned second place in the girls scoring with 101 points, and Egg Harbor Township had 84 for third.

The EHT girls junior four won the varsity-four race in 5:53.82 with a crew that included stroke Kelsey Diggins, Faith Hewitt, Audrey Hendriks, bow Betsy Ferra and coxswain Isabella Bejaran.

Absegami took the boys varsity-four race in 5:14.78 with a boat that included stroke Trevor Calimer, Steven Bailey, Sean Blair, bow Rick Blair and coxswain Nicole Gruber.
