University of Alabama freshman Arielle Schafer, an Absegami High School graduate, won a Row Tide Pride Award for her first-year contributions to the Crimson Tide women's crew team. The award, as voted on by the team representing Crimson Tide spirit and UA Rowing, was presented to both Schafer and fellow freshman Hunter James.
Schafer earned a seat on the Alabama Second Varsity 4+ for the Big 12 Double Dual April 8 in Oak Ridge, Tenn., helping the Crimson Tide to a clean sweep of 10 races against conference opponents Tennessee, West Virginia and Old Dominion. Schafer's boat defeated Tennessee by over 12 seconds with a time of 7:47.7, then beat a field of three in the afternoon race with a time of 7:38.4.

Steven Hewa helped the Rowan University baseball team to a 4-3 win over Moravian, going 2 for 4 with an RBI. Three days later, Hewa went 2 for 6 with a double, three runs and three RBIs in an 18-7 win over Rutgers-Newark.
Absegami graduate Mariah Hubbard was fourth in the triple jump (10.82 meters) for the Monmouth women's track and field team at the Moravian Greyhound Invitational last weekend.
