The Somers Point Sharks jayvee football team won the Atlantic County Junior Football League championshp on Saturday, Nov. 18, defeating the Atlantic City Dolphins 13-6. The championship was the third straight for this group of Sharks, including two at the jayvee level and a Peewee title in 2015.

Dylan Ireland accounted for all of the Sharks' scoring, running for a 25-yard touchdown on a burst up the middle early in the first quarter and catching a 45-yard touchdown pass from Jacob Meyers. Ireland rushed for 78 yards and had three receptions for 75 yards. Meyers finished the day 3-for-3 passing for 75 yards and added 45 yards rushing.

On defense Jeremiah Sinclair had seven tackles and two sacks, Ireland had four tackles and one sack and Christian Elliot had four tackles. Defensive captain Javien Swain made six tackles and assisted on many others.

The Sharks were coached by Eric Meyers, Jake Cook, Wes Swain, Mikal Washington, Sean Bogatin and Ahmir Mahmoud.
