PALERMO – The township’s softball program could move under the lights at Caldwell Park at some point, Committeeman Hobie Young said last week.
Young said that new baseball fields at Amanda’s Field in Petersburg are coming along nicely, and three Little League fields and a Babe Ruth field are ready for spring baseball. The new refreshment stand at the complex is having stone put down around the area to deal with flooding issues there, he said.
The township will likely hold off on construction of new Tee-ball fields at Amanda’s Field for now, Young said. Tee-ball will continue to be played at the Tuckahoe fields near the public works yard, he said.
Young said that the township will be closing down the softball fields on Somers Avenue and moving the program to Caldwell Park. Softball games can be played under the lights there and it will continue to consolidate recreation operations, he said.
