WILDWOOD – Glenwood Avenue Elementary School teachers were slimed as part of a five-day Read Across America event last week after students read more than 2,000 books since the start of the school year.

The school celebrated the last day of Read Across America on Friday, March 3. During the week, students were able to participate in multiple reading activities, such as guest readers from the community, a "Books By The Beach" activity, themed dress-up days to celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday, and a school-wide challenge to finish reading more than 2,000 books.

To wrap up the week, the school held an assembly where students and teachers were able to reflect back on a positive week of promoting reading. Several teachers were slimed after it was announced students read a grand total of 2,238 books this year.
