NORTH WILDWOOD — Students at Wildwood Catholic High School will present four showings of Meredith Willson's “The Music Man” the week leading up to Thanksgiving.
The musical is about a con man named Harold Hill who poses as a band organizer so he can sell instruments and band uniforms to the residents of small-town River City, Iowa, promising parents that he can form a band and teach their children to play. The truth is that Harold knows nothing about music and is planning to collect his money and skip town before the residents get wise.
MIDDLE TOWNSHIP — For the nearly 8,000 veterans in Cape May County, Saturday was a day to honor those who served the country — both in the past and who are serving.
He meets Marian, a librarian and piano teacher who sees through his ruse. But when Harold helps her younger brother overcome his lisp and social awkwardness, she begins to fall for him, and he for her.
The show features musical numbers such as "Seventy-Six Trombones" and "Till There was You."
Senior Micah Rucci portrays Harold Hill, junior Maecy Bischoff, plays the leading lady, Marian the librarian.
The play also features Aiden Sorenson as Marcellus Washburn; Julianna Roche as Eulalie McKechnie Shinn, the mayor's wife; John Feraco as Mayor Shinn; Isabella Feraco as Maud; Aiden Bradley as Charlie Cowell; and Skyla LaMonica as Zaneeta.
The high school's version of the play will also feature an all female-quartet, the Sweet Adelines, with Grace Stuart, Sarah Stuart, Stephanie Black and Lena Cassidy.
