WILDWOOD – Righter’s Auto Service recently changed ownership, but plans to keep the business in the family.

Dan Corcoran, 23, purchased the business from his grandmother, Dawn Righter, making him a third generation owner. Over the years, four generations of Righters have worked in the shop.

“I’m proud and honored to own the shop,” Corcoran said in a press release. “I will carry on the tradition of hard work and excellent customer service that goes all the way back to my great-grandfather.”

Corcoran, a lifelong resident of Cape May County, received training as an auto mechanic at the local Mr. Tire and began working at Righter’s Auto in 2012 under the direction of his grandfather.

Originally established on Rector Street in Philadelphia, the business moved to Cape May County in the early 1960s and operated in Rio Grande before moving to its current Wildwood location.

One long-standing tradition the shop has during the holiday season is the sale of Christmas trees that are cut and transported from the family farm in Huntington, Pa.

Righter’s is located at 4205 New Jersey Ave. and offers automobile maintenance and repair as well as towing. Motorcycle services are offered through Wildwood Motorcycle Repair, located in the same building. For rates, appointments, or questions call, 609-522-4455.
